Many students and staff at King's have told us that volunteering to support education and young people is important to them. We have varied roles, including a range of mentoring opportunities, for you to get involved to support this cause.
Help Primary School children with their homework with the Salusbury World Refugee Centre
Provide academic support and encouragement to children with their homework, working in small groups of 2 to 3 children per volunteer, aged from 6 to 11, from countries such as India, Romania, Syria, Afghanistan and Bulgaria with varying levels of English.
Become a STEM Ambassador with the London STEM Ambsasador Hub
STEM Ambassador volunteers in universities range from those studying app design to meteorology to healthcare. They come from a vast and diverse range of backgrounds, but all use STEM in their studies. By volunteering a little of your time each year to support school and non-school groups through a range of activities, including mentoring and careers talks, you could play an essential role in getting young people fired up about STEM subjects and careers.
Lead a reading session and help children to read with Coram Beanstalk

Use your British Sign Language (BSL) skills to interpret educational videos for Off the Curriculum
Off the Curriculum, an educational charity, are looking for British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters to interpret short educational videos in English into British Sign Language.
Mentoring
Mentoring is very popular among King's students as a way to volunteer and support others. There are lots of mentoring opportunities, to give your time weekly to support a young person. While they all support an individual's education and development, you may choose to pick between the options based on the age of the mentee you'd be supporting, the weekly time commitment, location , or because of the charity's mission. For example, some mentoring charities focus specifically on supporting young people who are migrants, who have disabilities or are from underrepresented groups. These are factors you could consider when choosing between mentoring opportunities.

Every week we provide a lunch for isolated older people in Victoria. We provide jacket potato with various fillings and a hot meal in winter. the lunch is run by volunteers. We require volunteers on a Wednesday from 11.00 - 2.30.
We are looking for volunteers who can commit at least 4 hours a week on an ongoing basis. Full DBS check and travel expenses covered. Volunteers receive information, advice and training Weekly meetings are held on Saturday for 1 hour
As a Cooking Volunteer you’ll join the kitchen team to help produce a three-course vegetarian meal using surplus food. You’ll contribute to recipe ideas, help with prepping the food, cooking the meal, and of course clearing up afterwards!
