Dementia Wellbeing East London

Dementia Wellbeing East London needs volunteers to offer Practical, social and emotional support to people living in their homes in Newham, City & Hackney and Tower Hamlets affected by advanced dementia.

What You'll Do: 
  • Some of the types of activities you could offer to our patients include: Creating a memory box, Listening to their favourite songs & pleasantly stimulating sounds. Using favourite and seasonal fragrances.
  • You could be offering a relaxing hand massage or support a patient with brushing their hair. Also helping to maintain hydration. You could also offer relaxing hand massages. Hair -brushing and face -washing and maintaining of hydration.
  • Benefits to the role will include full training on all areas of Dementia support such as providing hand massage to patients.

What We're Looking For: 

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • A couple of hours per week available
  • An interest in supporting people in your community who are living with dementia
  • The time to commit to a minimum of six months active volunteering with Dementia Wellbeing East London
  • Clear and sensitive communication skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • Patience, empathy and a non-judgemental approach
  • Reliability, dependability and enthusiasm
  • The ability to speak another language (Please note, desirable but not essential)
