We are a charity that harnesses the transformative power of play and exercise to help vulnerable children recover from complex trauma.
During the one week of holiday projects (28th May - 31st May), you will be working with vulnerable children in West London (aged 5-11) with a history of various difficulties, including mental health, special education needs, history of abuse, etc. More than 90% of our children are referred to by social services and live in very difficult environments.
Your role will include
- Supporting children at Solidarity Sports projects during school holidays. This may include running through playgrounds with our children, supporting them as they try bouldering for the first time, ice-skating, and many more fun activities.
- Building a positive, trusting relationship with our children, and making them feel special and valued at all times during our projects.
Our children are wonderfully affectionate and fun, you will not only get to have hands-on experience working with our children, you will also have lots of fun doing all sorts of activities with them!
- All training is provided by the Solidarity Sports team before the project, other training opportunities may also come up along the way to build CV and experience.
- We have projects during term holidays (e.g. half-term, Christmas), if you continue volunteering with us you will have opportunities to undertake further training such as in child safeguarding.
We need enthusiastic volunteers who are ready to dedicate their energy and affection!
All volunteers will be DBS checked before volunteering.
