Researchers and Fact Checkers (Radicalisation and Extremism)

SINCE 9/11 is a non-political, non-denominational educational charity set up to ensure that the legacy of 9/11 builds hope from tragedy, enabling young people to build embrace tolerance and respect for all faiths, beliefs and religions.

What You'll Do:

You will support us by:

  • Using your research skills to access impartial and factually correct information about current issues relating to extremism and radicalisation. This information will support the updating of our classroom resources ensuring they are up-to-date and provide clear information to support teachers to use the resources with confidence.
  • Researching stories from people who have survived terror attacks to capture their experiences and help others understand the impacts of these events.
  • Researching stories from 'helpers and heros' from terror attacks.
  • Develop new and update existing timelines on global terror organisations
  • Write blogs for our website
  • Create relevent content for our social media
Why You'll Love It:

We are a small charity but passionate about what we can achieve. We know that with the support of volunteers we can provide more support and guidance to those in the education sector and ensure that young people receive high quality education around the impact of terrorism.

The role is very flexible. We'd love you to feel that you wanted to work with us over a period of time (as terrorism is a fast moving issue) but we also would benefit from a short term commitment. We are also keen to hear your ideas and learn from you as to how we can achieve our mission together.

What You'll Learn:

Depending on your interests you will be able to learn:

- More about radicalisation and extremism on a global level

- How these issues can be addressed in the classroom

- More about how a small charity works

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for people who have a real interest in preventing violent extremism and appreciate the scale of the challenge for us as a charity. You'll have access to online sources of information and will be skilled at summarising complex information to make it easily digestible to those with little or no knowledge of the areas addressed. You'll be happy to work alone, with regular check-ins to see how things are progressing and to offer you support.

Ideally you'll be happy to be flexible as our charity evolves and new opportunities arise.
