Southwark Cathedral is an Anglican Cathedral on the south bank of the River Thames, set in the heart of the changing and thriving Bankside community.
The Cathedral welcomes over 200,000 visitors each year. We are located next to London Bridge at the heart of the vibrant Bankside district next to Borough Market. The Cathedral is well placed on the tourist route along the River Thames and many thousands of people pass through the grounds every day to find about our rich heritage and history of the site. We welcome not only tourists but those who are attending our many services, special events and conferences as well as those who seek us out as a place of stillness in the bustling centre of London.
We aim to involve volunteers fully in the work of the Cathedral. Volunteer roles are varied and range from Cathedral welcomers and guides to heritage, learning and conservation.
We are committed to equality of opportunity for all volunteers and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
