About the organisation

We are a relatively young charity that supports a strong, caring and mutually-supportive community. We are staffed by a growing team managed by a board of trustees (comprising a balanced mix of those with personal experience of sarcoma and those that don’t), and supported by experts in the sarcoma field.

Sarcoma UK was founded by Roger Wilson CBE, a sarcoma patient.

We’re bringing about change. Join us in doing that.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Not everyone understands sarcoma. We do.

Every day, 15 people are diagnosed with sarcoma in the UK. That’s about 5,300 people a year. However, 75% of people in the UK do not know what sarcoma is, or what the signs and symptoms are. Sarcoma UK works to raise awareness of the disease and its common symptoms, to increase early diagnosis.

There are over 100 subtypes of sarcoma. Since 2009, we've committed £6.4 million to 84 different research projects to increase understanding of the disease. Our researchers are working hard to find ways to improve outcomes for people with sarcoma.

Sarcomas are rare and consequently patients, families and friends often feel isolated. Sarcoma UK provides support to anyone affected by sarcoma through our dedicated Support Line.

OUR VALUES:
Pioneering: We are leading the way to a better future for the sarcoma community.
Together: We are creating a community to make a difference for all those affected by sarcoma.
Expert: We use our expertise in understanding sarcoma to deliver better outcomes.
