FoodCycle is a national charity that puts on free, weekly community meals for people in need. These meals are cooked by volunteers with surplus food that would otherwise go to waste. Our volunteers serve this delicious three course meal to our guests, as well as share the meal and the conversation with them - we believe no one should be hungry or lonely!
Our work matter because we:
- Connect communities
- Support mental health, wellbeing and reduce lonliness
- Nourish the hungry
- Promote sustainability
- Inspire change
You can volunteer as much or as little as you like and we have lots of volunteering opportunities available! Here's a breakdown:
Surplus food collection volunteers– picking up vital surplus food donations each week from generous local retailers and dropping off at our venue- staying on to cook if you choose!
Cooking volunteers – working as a team, cooking a meal using the donated food in a “Ready Steady Cook” style test of imagination!
Hosting volunteers - working as a team to serve a delicious meal and share conversation with our guests- helping to strengthen and build a resilient community
