Esports Youth Club started out as an idea over lockdown between three friends who wanted to turn their passion for gaming into something positive for the community.
We are all based in the Lambeth area and are keen to utilise the burgeoning esports industry as a means of supporting and inspiring local residents. For this reason, EYC is a registered social enterprise and not for profit (reg no. 13485312). We are a grassroots, volunteer-led organisation whose funds go entirely towards putting on events for young people.
We know that gaming is the most popular activity for young people today and yet so many are priced out of accessing games and consoles due to high costs. Once more, we’ve demonstrated that when organised effectively, in a structured, group environment, our gaming youth club sessions can be a force to improve mental health, future employability and enact positive social change.
According to a 2020 Barclays Survey, 62% of young people between 8 and 18 say that gaming is their favourite hobby.
However when it comes to youth services, gaming is just not represented in the same way as other leading sports and pastimes.
This means that disadvantaged young people can be excluded from esports, putting a cap on the future growth and diversity of the gaming sector.
Esports Youth Club makes esports accessible for all.
We provide the structure and equipment so everyone can explore their passion for gaming in a safe, free and sociable environment. Since launching in late 2021, we have gone from strength to strength, putting on free gaming sessions for 100s of young people across South London to overwhelmingly positive feedback from young people, parents and local community leaders alike.
